Desert Dunes Travel Guide
The Desert Dunes is such a very dangerous part of Medenia that even entering it can drain your health immensely. To begin, Desert Dunes is located right beyond the Desert of Fire, south of Noam Village. You can see its location here on the Medenia Map:
Because of its nature of a desert, the heat will cause your health and mana to suffer tremendously. You will lose 15% of your health and 9% of your mana every 6 seconds as long as you are in the desert. Because of this, you will need a priest healing you and a wizard returning the mana to the priest.. but as the wizard returns mana to a priest they have no health and must be healed quickly or else the desert heat will hurt them as well.

There is a way to avoid the heat. Inside the desert if fire are monsters which rarely drop Empty Ice Bottles. Inside Desert Dunes 2 are sand whirlpools. With a Breath Ring Equipped, you may enter one of these sand whirlpools (mid south-east part of the map). Inside that whirlpool you will find an Oasis. You will not suffer desert heat in the Oasis. If you drop the Empty Ice Bottle on the floor of the Oasis, it will fill. Using the now filled Ice Bottle, you will gain a minute of heat protection which lasts 15 minutes. You may have multiple ice bottles so if you can hunt many of them. Note: If you drop a filled Ice Bottle into the oasis water, you will destroy the bottle. Try not to do this.
Be careful when hunting in the Desert Dunes. Some creatures inside there will cast Red Cups on your entire group, which is a spell that drains you down in health by 85% or they will cast Blue Cups which drain your mana down by 85%. These attacks are very devistating and -usually- only occur when a creature is low on health and trying to run away.. so strike quickly and take care of it before that happens.
Another popular method of bypassing the monsters in the desert dunes is to have a friend cast Fiosachd's Veil Group prayer on everyone in your group. Once hidden, you may now safely rush through the Desert Dunes to Fire Canyon 1 (south twice). You are still affected by the desert heat, but if you run and don't get lagged or bump into monsters you should be able to make it all the way across without dying. Helpful advice: Wear Health Regeneration items such as deoch-blessed equipment or some of those nice sea coral necklaces.
